Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Boat Located?

We are located at the Harborage at Ashley Marina (see Where to Park below)
33 Lockwood Drive
Charleston SC, 29401

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled charter time for a mandatory boat safety briefing so this will not cut into you charter time. The captain will greet you at the dock entrance to show you to the boat.

Where to Park?

The Harborage at Ashley Marina does NOT allow charter guests to park in their parking lot, doing so may result in a ticket or towing. Please read below at the following options.

Below are a few options to consider:

1) Take an Uber or Taxi to The Harborage at Ashley Marina (33 Lockwood Drive, Charleston SC). Note, please mention to your Uber driver that they should take you to The Harborage at Ashley Marina, not Safe Harbor Charleston City Marina. The Harborage at Ashley Marina is immediately after The Hilton Garden Inn on Lockwood drive.

2) Park at Safe Harbor Charleston City Marina (17 Lockwood Dr, Charleston, SC) which has paid parking. Take the concrete sidewalk left and walk 5-7 minutes to The Ashley Marina (33 Lockwood Dr, Charleston, SC). The sidewalk is right along Lockwood Drive and you will walk under a few overpasses.

Where To Meet The Captain?

The Captain will greet you at picnic table at the dock entrance (as seen in picture below) to escort you to the boat and possibly assist with any personal belongings you bring with you. Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled charter.

What To Bring?

Feel free to bring any snacks or drinks that you would like. Adults 21 years or older may bring alcoholic beverages. Please avoid bringing any glass aboard and always be responsible. Captain and crew are not allowed to drink while working and Blue Life Charters does not provide any alcohol but you can bring some for yourself. We will have water and sodas on-board as well as wine glasses and cocktail glasses for your use. We have a separate refrigerator we keep readily available for you to put your beverages and snacks in to stay cold.

What to Wear?

Generally it is a few degrees cooler on the water. Spray from the water may get you wet, but you will not get soaked. Please dress accordingly with the current weather in mind.

What to Expect?

All charters will start with a brief safety speech once all passengers are on-board.

How do we add gratuity?

We are in the hospitality business and do accept tips based on the experience you had onboard. We accept tips in any form that is easiest for, credit card, Venmo, or even PayPal.

Can we be more than 6 people on board?

Unfortunately we fall under Coast Guard rules and regulations which means we can take a maximum of 6 guests on the boat, this number includes small children. If you are a party of more than 6 we do have the option of splitting the party up between 2 boats and doing a tandem sail, which you may call and ask more details about this option.

What if the Weather is suppose to be bad?

Please assume that the charter is on unless you hear otherwise. If there is a chance of thunderstorms/lightning/excessive wind, the captain will reach out to you at least 1-2 hours prior to the scheduled charter time to discuss options.

What are the Cancellations or Rescheduling Policies?

We have a very detailed cancellations and rescheduling policy listed out on our terms and conditions page. For cancellations or rescheduling due to the weather, we will personally work with you to fit your needs.
In the case that the captain must cancel due to bad weather then customers will receive a full refund or be able to reschedule for a time that best fits your upcoming schedule. No-shows will be charged the full price with no refund.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you still have any questions not covered above!
